A local preschool’s five-year plan for a new building project has come to fruition.

Brereton Playgroup and Preschool has raised more than £65,000 for the new premises.

The money was raised through donations from local businesses, the community and grants from The Lottery Awards, Garfield Weston Foundation and the Thomas Cook Children Charity.

The Preschool, which opened its doors in 1983, is a registered charity and has been raising funds for some five years for the much-needed new building.

Fundraising events have included fashion shows, sports days, bingo nights and a national Crowdfunding campaign, which saw the pre-school raise over £35,000.

The money has paid to demolish the existing building and paved the way for a new modular building with designated areas for staff including a kitchen and office.

The outdoor play area has also been redesigned and now offers a multitude of new resources to engage the children in the fresh air.

Kirsty Dunning, who has led the campaign, said: “We are absolutely delighted to finally have the new building in place, and to be able to continue to care for local children for many years to come.

“We couldn’t have achieved this without the support from the community and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed.”
