Sandbach band to mark heritage with free concert

Sandbach’s world famous Foden’s Band is to perform a free concert to mark its rich heritage.

In 2016 Foden’s were successful in an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a project that would see the band digitise its historical artefacts, original 78’s recordings, as well as original manuscripts.

On top of this, training would be provided in how do deal with historical documents and digitisation.

The concert, at Sandbach Town Hall from 7.30pm on March 27, will see the launch of a new Heritage Website that will host the digitised artefacts.

The first half of the concert will see the band perform works from original manuscripts and the second half will feature the band’s normal concert material.

The band’s Mark Wilkinson said: “I would personally like to thank all those who have been involved in the project especially Stewart Green as well as Allan Littlemore who has donated a large collection of his personal Foden’s memorabilia to our archives.

“I would also like to thank Devmac Systems who have built a fantastic Heritage website.

“Foden’s Band are extremely proud of our history and the new website allows us to share this world wide as well as protecting it for generations to come.”
