Sandbach RUFC are already preparing for the coming season.

Following the recent AGM,  Dan Stubbs will take over from Chris Davenport as club captain, as director of rugby Willie Stockdale outlined plans for the forthcoming season.

Changes to the coaching set up will see Sale Sharks and England hooker Rob Webber become head coach and Andy Bird, the Sale Sharks Academy Coach stepping up as backs coach.

Byron McGuigan has had to stand down because of Scotland, Sale Sharks and family commitments.

Stockdale will look to enhance the training team with guest specialist coaches, as last year, which saw the assistance of former England player and RFU National Academy kicking coach Jon Callard.

Individual Development Plans have been given to all the senior players, for them to work on during the off season.

Further plans will be announced at the Players Meeting on June 26, with formal training to start two days later.

Training will look to utilize game-based coaching wherever possible, alongside a strength and conditioning programme.

A number of preseason fixtures have been arranged, with a visit to Northern Premier club Kendal booked in for August 18.

Having finished 7th last season in the competitive Midlands Premier League, Sandbach will be looking to improve as young players gain more experience.

Sandbach welcome new additions to the squad and players interested should contact Willie Stockdale on 07810477786.
